Artist Statement
While most of my working life has been spent as a writer and composer (see my website, www.bernardjtaylor.com), I have always been involved with graphic design. Four years ago, when I first started to venture into painting, I approached a London art lecturer for advice and tuition but he told me that I had a "natural talent and style" and "an ability to communicate directly with the canvas" . He advised me to develop along my own lines, which is what I have done. So you could call my art relatively "artless" in that there is no academic or theoretical foundation to it and no technique outside of what I have developed on my own.
