Artist Statement
I was born in Hastings where I have lived all my life, and have drawn and painted since childhood. The Hastings Fisherman's Beach was my main source of influence during the early stages of my career. After attending life drawing classes for several years at Hastings College of Arts and Technology (H.CA.T), I felt the need to develop my work further. In September 2002 I enrolled at H.C.A.T and obtained my Higher National Diploma in 2005. Over the last four years my work has moved from figurative to semi/abstract. Attending the course has empowered my ability to explore new possibilities i.e. developing new techniques and experimenting with tone colour and form. I work with acrylics and paint on canvass, I also use photography as a second medium.
